“Appreciation and understanding of the nature or meaning or quality or magnitude of something.” –the definition of grasp

What sparked your interest in psychology?

People have fascinated me since I can remember: why someone does what they do, thinks what they think. I recognized people were usually their own worst enemies, and I wanted to know “why.”

What helps you most when writing blog content?

I use the synchronicity of the Universe. What ever is happening, with clients, current events and in my own life is the fodder for my posts. My focus is on being truly helpful. I don’t ‘sell’ and I don’t spout platitudes and psychobabble. I tackle the hard subjects and say things people may not want to hear, but need to hear.

What value have you gained by using sites like Twitter and Facebook?

They are both fascinating places to observe people. I also love the way energy works, and I end up connecting with others who are interested in living a joyful and meaningful life through Self awareness and Spiritual growth. I have been surprised that it’s possible to make genuine connections with others via social media. For me once a connection is made, if it’s real, it moves to other kinds of communication (email, phone) and often ends up with meeting in person. To date I think I’ve met 8 friends in person from Facebook and Twitter and have more meet-ups planned.

Do you remember your first experience with the internet?

Yes! It was mostly email. I started with it in 1985 or thereabout. Do you remember Alta Vista? Google clobbered everyone when they came out around 2000, but before Google you could still look things up! I loved the ease and grace it afforded me with my work. Not everyone had a computer, but it was obvious we all would and the world was changing.

What do you do to reduce stress and fatigue in your life?

I don’t create it. We are not victims. We have the life we make. Each one of us is powerful and we can make choices that do not lead to stress and fatigue. (I told you I say things people need to hear but often don’t want to.) My Spiritual practice includes quiet time/meditation/prayer/journaling, to quiet the noise of the world and focus on my internal life-which is where all power lies. I make certain I honor that I have a body and I know it needs 8 hours of sleep so I give it 8 hours of sleep. I eat organically, and I exercise every day. I also laugh a lot. Humor is a wonderful practice. I say no to drama and when things happen, my commitment is to peace of mind, which makes my choices easy about what to do.

What advice would you give to a blogging beginner & writer?

Everyone wants to sell you something, including how to blog. Stay away from it. Go inside. What do you have to say from the heart? What value do you have to offer to your fellow humans to enrich life? Write about what is true and real for you now, today. It’s perfectly fine if you have nothing to say, and stay quiet. Blog when you are in alignment with the message of your heart. Ask others about what you write: I’m used to writing dryly clinically. Not good blog material. I’ve had to learn about Point of View and Voice and all sorts of things I wished I paid attention to in English!

I spent a considerable amount of time reading other blogs, noticing what turned me off and what I liked. There are so many folks vomiting on the electronic page so others can live vicariously though them and feed the need for drama. I found many examples of the tortured soul writing. For me it’s a big turn off. I’m attracted to inspiration, folks being powerful in big and small ways.

How has social media allowed you to transmit your philosophies to the world?

I view my presence on social media as a way for folks to decide if they want to know more about me. I’m being authentically me, but not plastering others with a message. If they want to know more about me they can go to my website. I’m passive with my presence.

Someone told me my retweet ratio (who knew there was such a thing?) was 70%. They said that was unheard of for a ‘unfamous’ person. I think it’s a testament to how energy works. Like energy will find like energy so my tweets resonate with those who follow me.

Facebook is somewhat surprising. My author page I offer insights specifically about the energy and psychology of money and folks are shy. Folks have a chance to ask me questions, get some free time from me with no obligations or selling coming back at them. On my personal page, we talk about everything and that can get wild at times!

So to answer the question, I’m letting what happens with social media be okay. I don’t worry about transmitting a message. I focus on being authentically me, and leave it to the Universe as to who needs to see what I have to say.

How do you want to be remembered after you leave this life?

This is such an interesting question! I’m hoping if anyone thinks of me after my body has gone kaput, They will have a loving thought about something we’ve shared or some way I’ve helped them. Then, I get to do the same thing for them as when I had a body.
