The stock swing craze has continued to speed on in 2021, with Elon Musk and Redditors amping up stocks like GameStop (GME) recently to incredible heights. The novel stock gains received by GameStop have been instigated by the Reddit group labeled r/WallStreetBets, although targeted stocks have dropped in writing since their initial surges.
I wanted to jump in on a few of the stocks this morning but was surprised to see trading not available on Robinhood for the stocks targeted by Reddit readers. As of the time of this writing, the Robinhood app has restricted trading for Nokia (NOK), Naked Brand (NAKD), Blackberry (BB), GameStop (GME), and AMC Entertainment (AMC).
Try and purchase Nokia (NOK), Naked Brand (NAKD), Blackberry (BB), GameStop (GME), or AMC Entertainment (AMC) stock. You will see a “This stock is not supported on Robinhood.” notice at the bottom of the ticker’s display in Robinhood — the “buy” button isn’t even available and removed from the display too.
You can’t invest in Naked Brand (NAKD), Blackberry (BB), GameStop (GME), and AMC Entertainment (AMC) on Robinhood currently.
Trading isn’t available currently for stocks like Naked Brand (NAKD), Blackberry (BB), GameStop (GME), and AMC Entertainment (AMC) on the Robinhood app.
Specifically, I was looking to invest in Naked Brand (NAKD), which more than doubled its worth to $2.90 while writing this post. Without availability, I’ll have to look to invest in something else this morning — reminding me of the importance of investing in companies that have a mainstay. Often, it’s best to invest in a company only if you’re planning on keeping the investment for a long duration of time.
I ended up investing more in Tesla (TSLA) stock.
As markets continue to swing this way and that way, it’s important to remember to consult with a financial professional and planner to ensure you’re safely making appropriate investments with your money. Many large market swings are trends that arrive out of the mass lemming effect and have a sizeable, volatile potential for loss.
