It’s a trip.
Much like Alice in Wonderland.
In all its Technicolor 3-strip glory, The Wizard of Oz burst onto the stage in 1939. It has captured the hearts and enchanted the minds of young and old since.
I grew up watching The Wizard of Oz a lot.
Watched over and over again, The Wizard of Oz was a “comfort” movie in the selection of family-friendly choices I had available to me at my Grandparent’s house.
From the color-changing horse in Munchkinland to the fields of poppies before the Emerald City, I was mesmerized.
Recently, through Peacock streaming, I noticed the movie was available.
While recovering from the flu and hopped up on ibuprofen, I dove headfirst back into the fantasy that is the land of Oz. I remembered how fondly I thought of the movie in my youth. Now we’ve seen how the set for The Wizard of Oz was full of difficulties for actors in the early days of Hollywood, but the film still stands the test of time.
Apart from the movie, I find all things Oz to be entertaining! I’ve seen Wicked on Broadway in New York City twice and viewed Dorothy’s original ruby slippers and dress at the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP).
Escapism and its clutches come clambering for all ages.
