We stayed at an awesome Airbnb on the North Shore of Oahu near Velzyland Beach. Are Airbnb’s allowed in Haleiva county? I’m pretty sure they aren’t – but we found this one! Right in the heart of the community at the end of a culdesac – woken up by roosters, children and all. All part of the experience!

I’m not a surfer, but if you were, this place would be perfect.

A big open space, two stories with a loft with two queen beds in the second floor. Perfect for two couples to pitch in on cost and share an Airbnb surfing retreat. One of the best parts of this Airbnb was that we had our own place to park next to the guesthouse.

A quick walk from the Airbnb and you find yourself on Velzyland Beach, where you can practically walk forever to your heart’s content – if you’re a beach walker. Ted’s Bakery was only a few blocks away – although we drove each time to visit.

Quick check out process.

Making a Visit to Waimea Valley and Falls

We initially visited the Waimea Valley to only check it out – but were quickly swooped in to purchase the ability to go visit the Waimea Falls too. I didn’t realize along the way you would see so much flora!

Mr. Keith Woolliams being the man who did so much to share his knowledge and make Waimea Valley so beautiful. I also didn’t realize how many movies had been filmed there too! You walk along a paved path all the way to the top, so don’t worry, it’s probably the smoothest, easiest hike around.

Make sure to take those valuables out of your car too! We didn’t swim at the top – as you have to grab and rent yet another item, a lifejacket. I wasn’t ready or prepared to float around in a life jacket in front of everyone. Looking at the falls was plenty – and enough. I had my Snapchat moment, and then we were off.

We then went to go to Sharks Cove, but didn’t have enough time to snorkel.
