Wago Sushi SF is a quick stop off Chestnut Street in San Francisco in the Marina District — delivering all the sushi fare one could desire.

Sushi isn’t complete without miso soup, so we started with a bowl each. Particularly good at Wago Sushi. I wanted a hot pitcher to sip on while walking the blustery streets of San Francisco.

Next, we had the fried gyozas. Delicious, potstickers filled to the brim with beef. Piping hot.

Apart from our meal, I was grateful to the Wago Sushi SF staff for turning on the heater outside immediately upon arrival. Our meal was not only tasty but comfortable too, while outdoor dining during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What sushi rolls did we get at Wago Sushi SF?

We decided on four individual rolls, listed below:

  • O.M.G. Special Roll — Spicy tuna, jalapeño, crab inside topped albacore avocado tobiko, green onion.
  • Lambada Roll — Spicy tuna, salmon, avocado and tobiko with house sauce.
  • Dragon Roll — Unagi, cucumber topped avocado with tobiko.
  • California Roll — Imitation crab and avocado.

Each roll had a different flavor theme, but I think my favorite overall was the O.M.G. Special Roll. The spicy tuna alongside green onion and the bite of jalapeño was pleasantly poignant.

No matter what, it seems I always order a California Roll while eating sushi, and it didn’t stop with this visit.

Halfway through our meal while dining outside, a very drunken man and his bride took the table next to us. Watching how he treated his partner —seemed to be a mail-order situation, as strange as that sounds. Regardless, his drunken calls out to us, asking for recommendations on sushi rolls, ended up being quite entertaining.

After eating our fill, we were undoubtedly satisfied. With no leftovers, we paid the bill and were on our way to explore the great city of San Francisco further.
