With its 120 miles long coastline, it’s no small wonder that Maui has some of the most beautiful and popular beaches in Hawaii.
You can see black, white and red sand on these beaches and many water sports like kayaking, surfing, snorkeling and whale watching. The beaches have parks, life guards, well-maintained restrooms and other picnic facilities.
The perfect place to find your own beach paradise.

1. The Fleming Beach
This is a quiet beach located off the beaten track. You can take a quiet, peaceful stroll under the shade of the Ironwood tree or swim in the calm waters. You can also go snorkeling or surfing if you feel like a bit of action.
2. The Kaanapali Beach
This beach is one of the best beaches in Maui. The grainy golden sand carpet runs parallel to the sea and paved walks link it to hotels, resorts, and condos. Shopping at the Whalers Village is an adventure in itself and swimming and snorkeling around the Black Rock in clear calm water among the tropical fish is a joy.
3. The Kapaula Beach
Populated by swaying palm trees and protected by lava rock promontories, this beach is the perfect spot for all sorts of water sports like swimming, kayaking and snorkeling.
4. Wailea Beach
This crescent-shaped beach lies on the warm south-west coast of Maui.
It is one of the five beaches in the Wailea Resort and the sea view is magnificent. The Kahoolawe, Lanai and Molokini beaches border the beach. The gently sloping beach with shallow shore waters is ideal for whale watching.
5. Maluak Beach
Also called Makena beach, it lies to the south of Maui’s coast. There is very little development this far south. You will find dry wild countryside populated with kiawe trees. The golden sand carpet lies between two lava rocks and sand dunes — suitable for swimming and bodysurfing.
6. Hamoa Beach
This is a half-moon shaped beach with grey sand, which is a mixture of lava and coral. The setting is tropical, and the beach is a favorite spot for snorkelers, sunbathers and body surfers.
The beach is 900 feet long and 100 feet wide and topped by 30 feet of black lava cliffs. The surf breaks offshore, which is why it is well known for body surfing.
