After four and a half long days, CNN finally projects a win for Joe Biden as the 46th President-Elect of the United States of America. As all Americans watched, with breath held, for many hours and days, countless volunteers and minimum-wage workers have tirelessly counted votes and worked hard to finalize an election that has deeply divided the nation.

From Sacramento to New York City, this country contains millions of people with a dream. A dream to live, work and love in prosperity. Despite the divisiveness that can often be big media, I firmly believe we will see a future filled with healing and grace. From race issues to the coronavirus, the challenges we face are steep; together, we will build a tremendous future that allows all to express themselves, religion to be protected, and the right to speak always revered.

We will now watch in the coming days as the transition unfolds and possibly challenged. Joe Biden is now President-Elect, and Kamala Harris is now Vice President-Elect, and no matter our position, we must proceed with respect, even amongst potential legal difficulties.

The first step in our next chapter, we historically move forward with our democracy to find a better, more peaceful world. No family deserves to live in fear, and no person deserves to have their voice silenced.

We all play a significant role in this country and are privileged to be a part of the democratic process. Hold tight to your beliefs, and continue to vote. We retain our rights by speaking up.
