For websites, the biggest two factors that come into play for building views and notoriety on search engines for traffic – are social and content. Ultimately, search engines like Google take content into consideration when ranking websites.

The more trusted, genuine, and quality content a website has, the higher it will be ranked. However, being indexed on Google and gaining rank organically will take some time. Generally, it takes around six months to start seeing substantial traffic if you’ve put in the time to develop a deep cluster of content, but there’s a pretty great payoff.

Create a Blog or Journal Section on Your Website

For your website, I’d recommend adding a “Journal” or blog section – where you can start writing and putting together a stream of written content mixed with photos.

If this content is focused a bit on keywords revolving around your niche – this will help your website start to grow in related content. Something as simple as writing about your days in the industry will help. Keeping a daily, public journal on your website revolving around your time and work daily would help give your website more notoriety and weight in the search engines.

It’s not always easy to come up with a specific, tailored post each day, but if you approach blogging more like journaling, it can sometimes solve a content crisis, and make it easier to put pen to paper. Not all blogging needs to be perfectly structured, as your customers and followers will engage with daily, unfiltered posts too.

As always, when sharing personal information, be sure not to share anything too sensitive or tacky.

Paid Ads for Immediate Results

All the above-mentioned are long-form, long-term, organic ways to start ranking, but you also always have the option to start testing out ads—for immediate results, on the paid front.

I would set a budget for you’re willing to experiment with ads on Facebook and Instagram and start with an ad campaign. Something as small as $20, possibly targeted to those who have an interest in your industry – and pointing to specific business website pages.
