Blogging is supposed to attract the attention of site visitors and give them more information.

The person writing the blog is supposed to be an expert in their field. However, it’s hard to take a person seriously when they have limited English skills. If you’ve read any number of blogs on the internet, you know that they are out there.

There are better ways to write so that more people take you seriously.

If you’re going to write a blog, you have to make sure that you are typing it out in Microsoft Word or something first. This is so that you can use the ever-important Spell Check. It might come as a surprise; however, Word will take care of many issues with spelling and even grammar. It works well, and everyone should use it.

It can be tempting (and even faster) to type directly into the HTML editor of WordPress or any other blogging tool but resist the temptation. Instead, focus on the words that need to be written and use a spell-check program.

Don’t make up words.

It might sound cool to you, but other people aren’t going to have a clue as to what you’re talking about. They will likely think that you had a typo. It comes back to using Spell Check. If you don’t have the time to use it, no one will be coming back to your blog because the spelling and grammar mistakes are just too much for anyone to take.

Read a few books on grammar.

There are many rules out there – such as prepositions and participles, that shouldn’t be broken. Yet there are blogs out there that break them every day, and thus their blogs don’t make any sense. By blogging, people can make money. Yet many people prefer to say something along the lines of: By blogging, make lots of money. The latter doesn’t make any sense because there is no subject.

The key to writing better is to make sure that there is always a subject and a verb in every sentence. And using a bunch of words to say one thing doesn’t help, either. So many blogs say the same thing repeatedly because they don’t use concise wording.

No one wants to read a blog that is poorly written.

Most importantly, most bloggers don’t want to write something that isn’t going to be read.

If you don’t read any books on English grammar, there are three things that you can still do to improve your writing: use Spell Check, buy a thesaurus and re-read everything you write before posting it for the world to see.

You may be surprised by how much more traffic you get just by writing better.
