To be perfectly honest, we went to the Museum of Sex to see one of Hugh Hefner’s signature red smoking jackets.
We are people in the 30-plus age group who grew up forbidden in childhood from watching Hef’s prolific era on TV with The Girls Next Door, hushed away as parents watched, but then indulged completely as adults when streaming became popular on platforms like Amazon.
Right off the bat, it was the first thing you were presented with when you walked into the main room of historic sexual oddities.
As people well-versed in the worldly pursuits of life, this first room wasn’t entirely new. However, for someone of a more conservative nature, it might push them out of their comfort zone entirely.
So, tread carefully.
From varieties of dildos and butt plugs to whipping tools and mounts, this room held the majority of the museum’s historical and current artifacts. The rest of the museum contained an art room and floors of sexual games to play.
This museum might not be for you if you don’t have an adolescent fun side.
On the other hand, for people like us, we’ll bring friends back to visit the Museum of Sex in New York City.
