What was your first experience with the internet?

It was probably in 1998, when I was in the fourth grade. We used the internet for a project at school. Mine was on Pandas.

Why did you decide to begin blogging?

Well, little over a year ago I started making cakes for friends parties and planning events. My first event was my little sister and brother’s (Aleiha and Jaydon) birthday. They had it at the skating rink and they invited over 50 kids. I made 50 invitations by hand, which was majority of the work. I also made them a birthday banner and two cakes. Aleiha’s cake was a rainbow cake; pink and purple inside with rainbow fondant. Jaydon’s cake was Mario Cart themed. You can see those here. This was one of my first blog posts.

I’m not a really good writer but it was a easy way to show friends and family what I was doing.

How often do you update your blog?

I don’t have scheduled updates. I update when I have something new to put up.

How do you use social media sites like Twitter & Facebook to promote your services?

I don’t like Twitter that much, seems redundant, but I love Facebook. I have a fan page which is easier than my blog sometimes because almost everyone has Facebook, and I get way more feedback and business on there.

What’s your favorite part of event management & decorating?

My favorite part is the food. If the food is good, the party is good. I love making appetizers and deserts.

If you had an hour of free time, what would you do?

Bake! I just got a new Kitchenaid Professional stand mixer. I love sharing all my baked goods with friends.

How do feel the internet will change this coming year?

I believe internet will be universal someday. For an example, you would pay taxes to get wifi over the entire city. This will be amazing because there will be no limitation on where you are.

How do you want to be remembered?

Well I’m not married and I don’t have children yet, but when I’m gone I want to be remembered as a great wife and mother.

About Amanda

I’m a student at Michigan State University, studying Family Community Services. Even though I study FCS, I would really love to be a midwife. I’ve picked up baking and event planning on the side because its fun and I like to eat.
