I can’t be in New York City right now, so instead, I’ll have to reminisce.

While visiting the city last year, I found a few favorite spots, highlighted below. There’s always something interesting around the corner in New York City, from busy intersections to animals in Central Park.

  • Empire State Building — If it’s busy, the Express Pass will get you to the top faster. When on the city streets, you’ll enter the Empire State Building at the observatory entrance. Initially, it was a little tricky to find the entrance due to construction. If it’s cold, you’ll find there are heaters at the top.
  • The High Line — The High Line is a fun pathway to stretch your legs, but it’s not quite as wide as one might expect and gets busy pretty easily. It’s not necessarily great for running because of being so jam-packed. To access the beginning of The High Line, you can enter at 10th and 30th streets. The High Line is beautiful in the fall in late October and early November.
  • The Stonewall Inn — Moving to Greenwich Village, you’ll find The Stonewall Inn. I stopped for a gin and tonic, and to make a toast to those who’ve paved the way for change so I can marry my husband.
  • Olio e Piu Italian Restaurant — Olio e Piu a true sense of Mediterranean liveliness in the heart of Greenwich Village. I ordered the risotto al fungi, contorni broccoli, and had a glass of cabernet. Truly delightful.
  • Central Park Zoo — Make sure to watch the seals feed at noon at the Central Park Zoo. Visiting the red pandas was one of my highlights. The bats were a bit scary, although the tropical room was perfect for getting a bit toasty.

I truly love New York City.

The sights, the smells, the people. Every time you visit, you’ll see something new or something unexpected. Ultimately, New York City is a city of buzz and liveness, where indeed, anything is possible.
